Practicalities for the USI community

Careers and Disability

The Career Service provides information and support for the entry into the job market for students with disabilities. In particular:

1. Career & Disability Counselling
It is possible to book an individual Career Counselling session focused on soft skills for entering the job market, by making a request here.

Se siete in possesso di certificati medici o altri documenti importanti per il processo di consulenza vi preghiamo di portarli con voi.

2. Regulations

Below are the main regulations supporting the placement of students with disabilities:

In Switzerland:

Note: The law is currently undergoing partial revision: Revisione parziale della Legge sui Disabili (LDis) (particularly Articles 1 paragraph 2, 3 letter g, 6a, 8a, 9a, 9b, 12, 13).

In Italy:

3.Contacts and Support Associations for Professional Integration

4.Dedicated Internships

We highlight that several companies offer dedicated internships (for example: ESA, Google, Microsoft, UBS, Intesa San Paolo, Procter&Gamble, KPMGEuropean Council...). In Italy, companies are required to offer tailored opportunities, marking them as "Opportunities for Protected Categories (L 68/99)."

Additionally, many organizations have a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion department, which we recommend contacting to check for opportunities and career support benefits.

Finally, there are some cooperatives that aim to hire people with disabilities (for example, in Lugano: La fonte, Canvetto luganese…)

5. Borse e agevolazioni per stage

If you wish to do an internship abroad, the Movetia SEMP program offers scolarships for internships aimed at people with disabilities (see p.7,13).
