Practicalities for the USI community

USI in ascolto

USI in ascolto (USI listening) is a space devoted to listening and providing free of charge individual support to all members of USI community (students, academic and administrative staff), promoted by USI through the Equal Opportunities Service. USI in ascolto is a space dedicated to welcoming and listening to the difficulties and moments of discomfort experienced by the person, does not offer clinical and psycho-therapeutic care. It offers a limited number of consultations (usually from one to five) during which the person is accompanied in understanding their individual, relational and/or social difficulties and helped, through the activation of their internal and external resources, to develop strategies to overcome them. Maximum confidentiality is guaranteed.

Who can access it?
USI in ascolto is available to the entire USI community: students regularly enrolled at USI, members of the intermediate body, the academic and professorial staff, and administrative services personnel. Consultations are offered in Italian and English.

How does it work?
USI in ascolto can be accessed with the following modes:

  • Telephone +41 58 666 41 55 (Swiss landline number, the cost of the call varies depending on the operator and tariff plan)
  • E-mail: [email protected]
  • Microsoft teams (chat and calls): contact “USI in ascolto”
  • In-person meetings: by appointment only in room 168 of the main building, Campus Ovest Lugano and at Medrisio Campus.

The service is active (also during the Christmas holidays) on the following days and times:
Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. via telephone (+41 58 666 41 55) and Microsoft Teams ("USI in ascolto")

For the national awareness campaign against sexual abuse, Sexual Harassment Awareness Day, an "Equality box" is available in front of the Equal Opportunities Service office and on the Mendrisio campus. It is a special letterbox calling on people in the USI community to collect any requests for support and to leave thoughts and suggestions on gender, equal opportunities and diversity issues. Please note that the "Equality box" is not a tool to report particularly sensitive cases, which should be sent to the Equal Opportunities Service, [email protected].
