Practicalities for the USI community


The netID is an account (the combination of a user name and password) that allows access to a number of IT services. Among other things, it allows to:

The account is given to each user at the beginning of their studies or employment at USI.

The account remains active for the entire stay at the University, and also after leaving (end of studies or employment, etc.)

  • NetID recovery

    To recover a lost or forgotten netID:

  • Manage your profile and create an alias

    You can create an alias, i.e. an alternative user name, and in general manage your profile by accessing the relevant portal, then choosing “netID Profile” and following the instructions.

    Note: if you choose an alias with @netid, you will not be able to access the eduroam wireless network with that alias (you must use the original netID).

  • Password change or reset

    To change the netID password, first login to the relevant portal, choose “Change password” and follow the instructions.

    If you forget your password, you can reset it at this page and by following the instructions.
